The not-so-skinny

Project overview

Got Fitness Exercise Specialists are a group of personal trainers operating mainly in the Waterloo/Southwark area of London. They were looking for a redesign of their current site to have an emphasis on delivering useful, informative articles to those interested in the more involved end of the health, nutrition and exercise world. They needed the site to be able to deliver a large amount of content and be easy enough to update that guest authors could contribute.

Responsibilities

I was responsible for design of the site, front-end development and integration with existing CMS, and was also responsible for creating the new Got Fitness identity.

Technical deets

The site is fully responsive, scaling down from a max width of 1280px, and still looking decent on screens less than 300px wide. It is build on WordPress, extended with various plugins including W3 Total Cache, WordPress popular posts, Sharebar and WordPress SEO by Yoast. The front end also benefits from various plugins including FitVids.js, jQuery Tweet! and Fancybox. Fonts are served by Google fonts and there is also a little Google Maps API thrown in for a custom contact map.

Outcome

Got Fitness were more than happy with the end result - the site's content output and traffic have both seen, and continue to see, great increases. They have also been able to use the site to attract new authors from around the world to contribute content.
